Nickelodeon began teasing The Splat in early September with relatively vague promotional stunts and social media promotions. The Wild Thornberry’s originally aired on Nickelodeon from 1998-2004. For Nickelodeon, The Splat is not just a way to reuse old content, but also a way to bring back old viewers. In addition to retro television programs, The Splat experience includes social media platforms, a website, and an emoji keyboard.

Viacom-owned Nickelodeon has taken this strategy to another level with the recent roll out of The Splat, a TV block on the TeenNick channel consisting entirely of ’90s programs from Nickelodeon’s vault, like Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, and CatDog.

Television producers have jumped on this trend by launching ’90s related programs, like Disney’s Girl Meets World, Lifetime’s Saved By The Bell movie, and Netflix’s Full House sequel.

With the recent All That reunion at New York Comic Con, the opening of the Goosebumps movie in theaters, and Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell reviving their Goodburger skit on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, it would seem that 90s nostalgia is at an all time high.

Ink will be sprayed outwards when the trigger is pressed which can splat an opponent quickly at short range. It is therefore better suited to turfing ground than attacking opponents though it can be used offensively. The Splat Roller is a standard Roller which has a balanced speed faster at inking than the Dynamo Roller and spreads more ink than the Carbon Roller. Tap ZR to fling ink at foes, or hold it down to ink the ground as you run! Rollers began as unofficial weapons but became so popular that they're now an officially recognized style! The included Suction Bombs and Killer Wail are powerful too, so this is great set to learn the Roller ropes. The Splat Roller represents the Roller class of weapons, useful for close combat and also for inking turf. It has high ink damage, allowing you to splat opponents easily but be aware of its high ink consumption. If the player runs into an enemy while the opponent is in a squid form, enemy will be crushed (does not work with every roller weapon.) The roller also doesn't cover as much ink when making a U-turn. The weapon can also fling ink at a medium-length range. It has the ability to ink the ground while on the move. In Splatoon 2 it comes with Curling Bombs and Splashdown. It comes with the Suction Bomb and Killer Wail. The pipe curves around the painting surface and connects to a long handle for the player to grab onto. It has a cylinder paint surface with a pipe coming out of its side. The Splat Roller looks like a paint roller.
